Support the public performance of engaged, intercultural theatre by contributing to the Recontres/Encounters crowdfunding campaign.
Rencontres/Encounters (R/E) is an engaged, intercultural theatre initiative that is heading towards public performances from January 20th-23rd 2016.
R/E believes that another person’s perspective can be better understood (though never even close to fully understood) through storytelling, dialogue, and through performance of oneself, and of another. New ways of seeing ourselves and others are illuminated, making visible both the real and perceived boundaries that prevent relationship and community between people of different immigration statuses, racializations, sexualities, gender identities, classes, faiths, abilities and other intersecting factors.
R/E are looking for funds to support the rental of their space, the realization of their design, and to be able to offer tickets on a Pay What You Can basis. Led by artist scholar Rachael Van Fossen, Encounters/Recontres is one of ASC!'s field studies that aims to link research creation and public performance more fully with social activism through partnerships engaging universities with community-based and/or Art for Social Change organizations.
