A Dose of Creativity

Watch "A Dose of Creativity," produced by Aroha Philanthropies, featuring residents from Burbank Senior Artists Colony, North Hollywood Senior Arts Colony, and Long Beach Senior Arts Colony.

Next Avenue reports that the Burbank Senior Artists Colony is the result of a vision by Tim Carpenter, founder and executive director of EngAge, a nonprofit that’s dedicated to changing the way people think about aging by changing the way older people live.

Carpenter had an idea that retirement communities should be more like college— a beginning instead of an ending. His vision became a reality in the Burbank Senior Artists Colony. At these affordable senior apartments, the residents are part of a vibrant community that Carpenter and other proponents of the artful aging movement believe will change the very nature of aging.
